Contingency Planning

The that you or your spouse will require home health care or nursing home assistance, or suffer a disabling injury or illness is greater than you might think. Consider these facts:  

• In 2008, about 9 million Americans over age 65 needed long-term care services; that number is expected to rise to 12 million by 2020*. 
• The need for long-term care is not limited to those over 65. Currently, over 40% of people who require some type of long-term care are between the ages of 18-64*.  
• 3.5 million American workers suffered disabling injuries**.  
• A disabling injury occurs every 3 seconds in public places (excluding motor vehicle injuries, which occur every 14 seconds)**.
